The sheer bliss of being in Calicut for the Kerala Literature Festival and of meeting and working with these very special people, sharing with them the joys (and pains) of writing and literary translation. A dream come true… thanks to the KLF organizers, Alexandra Büchler and LAF, and the Arts Fund Malta which supported this mobility project.
The Literature Across Frontiers series of poetry translation encounters Poetry Connections Europe-India continued in 2019 with a workshop hosted by the Kerala Literature Festival and held at The House of Sparrows in Calicut. With Girija VM, Harkaitz Cano, Manoj Kuroor, Llŷr Gwyn Lewis, Nadja Mifsud, Robert Minhinnick, K. Satchidanandan, PP Ramachandran, Anvar Ali and Anita Thampi. The workshop was facilitated by by Alexandra Büchler and Sampurna Chattarji and the poets translated poems written in Basque, English, Malayalam, Maltese and Welsh.
The poets showcased their work at the KLF on 11th January 2019 as part of the festival programme.
The European poets then travelled to Mumbai where they gave a reading in the Kitab Khana bookstore with Mumbai-based poets Sampurna Chattarji, Mustansir Dalvi, Hemant Divate and Ranjit Hoskote
The visit was hosted by the Kerala Literature Festival and supported by Arts Council Wales, Malta Arts Council, Etxepare Institute and the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union as part of the cooperation project Literary Europe Live Plus.
