Excited to be attending the VII Festival de Los Confines, in Gracias Lempira in Honduras, to be reading poetry, listening to poetry, meeting old poet friends, getting to know new ones.

This year, Nadia Mifsud won the National Book Prize with her poetry collection Varjazzjonijiet tas-Skiet (Ede Books, 2021), which led to her being bestowed the prestigious title of Poet Laureate. / Din is-sena, il-ġabra poetika Varjazzjonijiet tas-Skiet (Ede Books, 2021) ta’ Nadia Mifsud rebħet il-Premju Nazzjonali tal-Ktieb, u dan wassal lill-poeta Mifsud għat-titlu speċjali ta’ Poeta Lawreata, rikonoxximent għall-fatt li dan kien it-tieni premju mirbuħ fil-qasam tal-poeżija.
the daphne festival 2022
The Daphne Festival, happening in London, Malta and online, will mark the fifth anniversary since the assassination of Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. It brings together human rights and press freedom organisations as well as journalists, artists, activists and campaigners from around the world to remember Daphne, celebrate the legacy of her work and highlight the ongoing campaign for justice.

Not everything can be said or written out. Some things need to be shouted, but the things that cannot be shouted, must be whispered. Between the lines of a smallest poem there is room for entire universes. Only the fact that the space between the lines is so full of life makes translation possible. For two days, writers from all over the world will present and discuss their views on the Reunion’s overall theme.

the bobsphere: żifna f’xifer irdum
I’ve always felt that the Maltese language is a rough one. When spoken it’s has a guttural feel and no less better when written, even when using the more polite forms there still an underlying brutality. However Nadia Mifsud has proved me wrong. All the stories in Żifna f’xifer irdum ( literal translation: Dancing on a Cliff Edge) are beautifully written; this is prose which envelopes you in it’s beauty, each word, expression has it’s own special place.
